People´s Deputies Mykola Tomenko and Valerii Sushkevych registered the draft resolution on holding of the parliamentary hearings "Pension Reform as a Constituent of Economic Reforms." Pursuant to the draft resolution, the parliamentary hearings are scheduled for December 1, 2010.
The parliamentary hearings should provide a wide discussion of the current state of the pension system; develop well-grounded recommendations for the improvement of pension provision in Ukraine. "Our goal is to find the best option for reforming the pension system, considering the common strategy of the socio-economic relations in Ukraine," M.Tomenko stressed.
M.Tomenko believes that the reform of pension provision should be implemented. "They should restore the principles of equity, instead of looking for the ways to fill the pension fund at the public expense," he stated. M.Tomenko deems necessary to abolish ‘the elite pensions´ for high-ranking officials, law enforcement servants, and others. "The system of preferential retirement for the police, law enforcement and army officers should be revised," the Deputy Chairman stated. "These actions are more urgent, and would fill the pension fund on a regular basis. Raising of the retirement age without reforming the principles of pension provision is immoral and unfair," the Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed.
The Deputy Chairman supposes that the reform should be systemic, starting with the reform of labour remuneration and provision of several economic factors by the economic bloc of the Government.
